DOCTOR BIOGRAPHY

Dr. Rene’ Thornton-Leonard grew up in a military family who has lived in and travelled to several states and countries. She graduated with honors in 1993 from Howard University in Washington, D.C. with a Bachelor of Science degree in Zoology. While there, she earned several distinctions including being recognized as an All-American Scholar Collegiate.

Dr. Thornton-Leonard continued at Howard University to receive a Doctor of Dental Surgery and her postgraduate training in orthodontics. She was very active on campus, receiving an award for Who’s Who Among Students in American Universities & Colleges, an award for academic excellence, patient sensitivity and outstanding achievement, and The American Association of Orthodontists’ Award. Dr. Thornton-Leonard practiced orthodontics for several years in Ohio before becoming a member of the orthodontic team at Nanston Dental Group in 2002. Great Expressions and Nanston Dental Group joined forces to create Atlanta’s most convenient dental practices.

Dr. Thornton-Leonard is an active member of the American Association of Orthodontists, Southern Association of Orthodontists and Georgia Association of Orthodontists. She is Board Eligible with the American Board of Orthodontics and is also an Invisalign certified provider. Dr. Thornton-Leonard is committed to providing superior orthodontic results in a friendly, patient-centered environment. She enjoys getting to know each of her patients, seeing their smiles and confidences improve as treatment progresses. While away from the office, Dr. Thornton-Leonard enjoys spending time with her family and giving back to her community.

Dr. Kevin Blair is board certified in General Dentistry through the American Board of General Dentistry and the Federal Services Board of General Dentistry. In 2004 he achieved Mastership status in the Academy of General Dentistry, a feat achieved by less than 1% of US dentists. Dr. Blair served from 1981 to 2005 in various capacities in the U.S. Air Force. Dr. (Colonel) Blair retired in 2005 from the Air Force earning a Legion of Merit award while serving as the European Command Dental Surgeon based at Ramstein, Germany. He earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery (cum laude) from Georgetown University School of Dentistry in 1981 and his Bachelor’s degree in Biology from Merrimack College in North Andover, MA.

Upon retirement from the US Air Force, Dr. Blair moved to Snellville to join his wife’s family. His son is in graduate school at Auburn University and his daughter is currently enrolled at Auburn University. His original research on resin cements is published in the International Journal of Prosthodontics. Dr. Blair has been with Nanston for six wonderful years. Great Expressions and Nanston Dental Group joined forces in 2010 to create Atlanta’s most convenient dental practices.
