Great Expressions VP Honored for Supporting Local Students

Winning Futures Recognizes Kristy Loomis for Commitment to Mentoring

DETROIT – April 13, 2016 – In recognition of National Volunteer Month, Kristy Loomis, VP of Human Resources at Great Expressions Dental Centers, has been honored by Winning Futures, a nonprofit that provides goal-setting and skill-building programs for over 2,000 middle and high-school students annually. Loomis serves as a mentor with Winning Futures, meeting every week with students at an area school to mentor and lead them through activities that aid their educational and personal development.

“We (Winning Futures and our students) are extremely grateful for Kristy’s volunteerism, for if it weren’t for our mentors, our program could not function,” said Sarah Zigila, Winning Futures Program Facilitator. “Each year, volunteers provide work and services for organizations such as ours that equates to more than $169 billion of paid time. This makes their work not only noble, but critical to the continued efforts of all non-profit and charitable associations around the world.”

Loomis goes beyond the parameters of the program to assist her mentees in maximizing the opportunities before them. Loomis maintains a relationship with her past mentees, now overseeing the professional development of nine girls. Loomis also supports Feeding Children Everywhere, and brought the meal packaging program to GEDC employees, increasing her impact exponentially.

Having joined the Great Expressions Dental Centers (GEDC) team in January 2013, Loomis currently serves as Vice President of Human Resources, where she is responsible for talent acquisition and retention, employee engagement, and increasing function of the company’s employee service center.

Loomis’ efforts align with GEDC’s commitment to supporting the communities it is privileged to serve. In 2015, the organization donated nearly $275,000 to charitable causes, including Feeding Children Everywhere, Missions of Mercy and Boy Scouts of America. Through the first three months of this year, GEDC has already donated more than $150,000 to charitable organizations.

“Kristy Loomis’ tireless dedication to giving back is an inspiration to all of us at Great Expressions Dental Centers,” said Greg Nodland, Chief Operations Officer of GEDC. “Her service demonstrates the incredible impact one individual can have on the community and we applaud her efforts.”
