General Information and Requirements
What is a text message (SMS)?
SMS stands for Short Message Service, and it is the same as text message, text, or TXT. SMS (text message) can be sent to and from a mobile phone.
What is the advantage of registering for text message appointment confirmation and account alerts?
By registering for our text messaging service, you will have the convenience of confirming your appointment via your mobile phone. This service allows you to do the following, directly from your mobile phone 24/7:
- Confirm dental appointments
- View your account balance
- View upcoming appointments
- Get directions to your home office or next appointment
Are there any age restrictions to use the text messaging system?
Patients must be 18 years of age or above to activate and use the Great Expressions Dental Centers text messaging service.
Can text appointment confirmations and account alerts be used on all mobile phones and with all mobile service providers?
Yes. It can be used with all mobile phone handsets and mobile service providers that allow you to send and receive text messages. Supported carriers are AT&T, Sprint, Nextel, Boost, Verizon Wireless, U.S. Cellular®, T-Mobile®, Cellular One Dobson, Cincinnati Bell, Alltel, Virgin Mobile USA, Cellular South, Unicel, Centennial, and Ntelos.
What should I do if my phone is lost or stolen?
If your phone is lost or stolen you should contact your local Great Expressions Dental Centers office to be removed from the text messaging service, and also report it to your mobile service provider.
Is there a charge for utilizing the text message system?
Though Great Expressions Dental Centers does not charge you for this service, you are subject to all applicable messaging charges determined and applied by your wireless provider. Contact your wireless provider for specific information regarding your text messaging charges.
If I change wireless phone providers, but keep the same number, do I need to opt-in again?
No. Your cell phone number is still associated with your account and you will not need to opt-in again.
If I change my cell phone number, do I need to opt-in again?
Yes. You will need to opt-in with your new number. Remember to notify your Great Expressions dental office with your new number so we may update your account.
Opt-In and Opt-Out Process
How do I opt-in to receive text message appointment confirmation and account alerts from Great Expressions Dental Centers?
You can opt-in by texting SUBSCRIBE to 98269 or 200100. All guarantors that provide a valid cell phone number during the patient registration and/or check-in process will automatically be enrolled in text message reminders.
What happens after I opt-in to receive text messages?
You will be sent a message confirming your subscription and informing you of applicable message and data rates for all subsequent text messages.
Where will these text messages originate from?
All confirmation text messages and subsequent account alerts will begin with “GE Dental Info” and be sent by 98269 or 200100.
I did not receive a confirmation message. What should I do?
Confirm that you have text messaging enabled on your mobile device. You will need to contact your wireless service provider to set this up if you haven’t done so already. Once you have this enabled, you will receive a confirmation message from Great Expressions Dental Centers. You will not need to re-subscribe.
How do I opt-out?
You may opt-out at any time by texting “STOP” or “UNSUBSCRIBE” to 98269 or 200100.
If I opt-out, how to do I opt back in at a later date?
You may request to begin receiving text message appointment confirmations by replying RESUME to 98269 or 200100.
Accounts with Dependents
I have multiple dependents on my account. Do I sign up each dependent separately?
No. All of your dependents will be tied to the account guarantor. You will only need to sign up for our text messaging system once and you will receive updates for all dependents on your account.
I am the account guarantor, but would like one of my dependents to receive text message alerts also. How do they sign up?
Each dependent will need to register their phone by using the same opt-in method above, providing they are 18 years of age or older. If you’d like to authorize a dependent to receive alerts for all individuals on the account, you will need to contact your local office to make the change.
When will I receive a confirmation text message for my next appointment?
You will receive your confirmation text message five (5) days prior to your scheduled appointment and three (3) days prior to your appointment if you did not respond to the first confirmation text.
How do I confirm my appointment?
Reply “YES” to the confirmation text message. You will receive a reply message from “GE Dental Info” thanking you for your confirmation.
How do I reschedule my appointment?
You are not able to reschedule your appointment via our text message system. Simply contact the office prior to your appointment to cancel or reschedule.
How do I cancel my appointment?
You are not able to cancel your appointment via our text message system. Simply contact the office prior to your appointment to cancel or reschedule.
What happens if I have multiple appointments scheduled in the same day?
If you have multiple appointments scheduled in the same day, you will receive a text message for each appointment. You will need to respond to the first confirmation message in order to receive the second confirmation message.
What happens if my dependents and I have appointments scheduled on the same day?
You will receive a separate message for each person’s appointment. They will be sent one at a time and you will need to reply to each text message in order to receive the next message.
Receiving Your Balance
How do I receive my account balance?
Text “BAL” to 98269. You will receive a message with your account balance. It is a cumulative balance for all individuals on your account.
Will I received a separate balance for each of my dependents?
No. You will only receive one balance for all persons associated with your Great Expressions account.
Can I pay my account balance via text message?
No. At this time, you cannot pay your account balance via text message.
Viewing Upcoming Appointments
How do I view my upcoming appointments?
Text “APPT” to 98269 or 200100. You will receive a message with your next appointment date, time, and location.
How do I view upcoming appointments for my dependents?
Text “APPT” to 98269 or 200100. You will receive a message with your dependent’s next appointment date, time, and location.
Can I confirm my appointments in advance?
No. You will receive your appointment confirmation text message(s) five (5) days prior to your appointment date to confirm.
