GEDC Supports Local Domestic Violence Victims

Great Expressions and Schools Collect Dental Items for Women in Crisis

DALLAS, TX – Sept. 28, 2016 – Each year in Texas, domestic violence results in an estimated 1,200 deaths and 2 million injuries among women. To aid victims in crisis in Dallas, Great Expressions Dental Centers (GEDC) is introducing its Dental Deputies program – a community-based initiative partnering with local schools to collect dental hygiene items for donation to domestic violence shelters during Domestic Violence Awareness Month (October).

Working with neighborhood preschools, daycare centers and schools to gather donations, GEDC will match each item collected. Participating schools will also receive free dental care education tips during a visit from their local GEDC dentist. Donations will be delivered to the Dallas-based Genesis Women’s Shelter & Support center.

?Victims of domestic violence often flee their homes with just the clothes on their backs, and are often in need of essential items such as dental care products,? said Richard Beckman, CEO of Great Expressions Dental Centers. ?GEDC and its school partners will work to provide relief to these victims, while raising youth’s awareness to the importance of oral health care.?
