3 Tips to Keep Your Child’s Schedule During the Summer Months

June 28, 2017

(June 28, 2017) – As the summer begins, children may fall out of their everyday routines – including their dental hygiene habits. Great Expressions Dental Centers wants to help local families have a successful summer by providing three tips on how to keep a schedule during the fun season.

“For many families, summer vacation opens up quite a bit of free time, allowing for extra travel and fun,” said Dr. Robert Brody of Great Expressions Dental Centers. “With that can come the loss of a steady schedule ranging from academics to dental health. Don’t miss out on having a fulfilling and healthy summer because of lack of structure.”

Follow GEDC’s summer scheduling tips to ensure you and your family don’t fall into any bad habits while the kids are out of school:

  • Create a summer bucket list. The summer is the perfect time to do the things you were too busy to try or visit during the school year. Spend time as a family making a list of the things everyone would like to do the next few months. Then start crossing things off your list as you do them!
  • Set up quiet time. During the school year, many teachers set aside time throughout the day for children to quietly read or write. Continue this in the summer by scheduling a half hour each day that your children can use to keep up on their academics, helping prevent summer learning loss-the loss of academic skills and knowledge over the course of summer break.
  • Schedule dentist visits. The summer is the perfect time to schedule dental visits. The additional free time is perfect for taking care of your health. It is recommended that you visit your dentist a minimum of twice a year.
