Great Expressions Annual Initiative Donates More Than $47,000 in Honor of MLK, JR. Day

BLOOMFIELD HILLS, Mich. – January 28, 2013 – This year marked more than 25 years of celebrating the life of Martin Luther King, Jr. who dedicated his time to defending the rights of and promoting equality for all individuals. To show support of Martin Luther King, Jr.’s vision, Great Expressions Dental Centers (GEDC), a leading dental service organization with affiliated dental offices in nine states, is donating more than $47,000 to nonprofit organizations in the communities it serves.

For the third year, GEDC is donating five percent of the daily revenue generated through patient services from all offices on MLK Day to designated organizations. As good fortune would have it, this year’s MLK Day was the biggest day in revenue for GEDC in its history. In Michigan, nonprofit organizations receiving a portion of the funds include The Children’s Center; Focus Hope; Neighborhood Service Organization, Michigan; and Uplift our Youth Foundation; which support civil and human rights; and projects, programs and activities for youth.

“Dr. King made a significant impact on racial equality in this country,” said Richard Beckman, CEO of Great Expressions Dental Centers. “We want to ensure his vision and positive impact on American society lives on. By hosting our annual fundraiser it enables us to do our part. We’re honored to donate a portion of our revenue to these organizations that further Dr. King’s commitment to social justice and creating a better future for all citizens.”

Additional organizations that will benefit from donations include The Martin Luther King, Jr. Center for Nonviolent Social Change in Atlanta and the Ronald McDonald House Charities of South Florida in Miami and Ft. Lauderdale.
